A piece of advice & Wholewheat Spinach Cheese Crackers

Well, I know one doesn’t really want unsolicited advice but here is a small piece of it that I believe in – the best thing we can give our children is the ability to be independent. And the peace of mind that their parents are healthy and happy.

And to that end, here is a little bit for both – the Wholewheat Spinach Cheese crackers ( without baking powder/soda) which my 5 year old son cut independently and how it is a healthy snack for the entire family, not just children.

Ingredients –

1 cup Wholewheat flour

1/2 cup finely chopped spinach leaves

1/2 cup grated cheese ( any variety, but cheddar tastes best for this specific cracker,as per me)

Salt, paprika – as per your requirement.

2 tbsp oil

2 crushed garlic cloves

20 gms of butter

Water as needed

Method –

Mix the first 4 ingredients together. Heat the oil in a pan and add the crushed garlic cloves. This is mainly to flavour the oil with the garlic. You can remove the crushed garlic after it infuses in the oil and then let the oil cool down.

Rub the butter into the dry mix such that it resembles bread crumbs. Then add the oil to the dry mix to start bringing it together. Add warm finally to only bring the dough into a rollable mix.

Allow it to rest in the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour. Take it out , roll and cut into shapes. Bake in a preheated oven for 15 minutes or until crisp, at 170 degrees C.

Cool off completely and store.
