We hear so many stories of bullying and isolation by children of all age groups. And that’s the reality of our times. Our children are constantly being made to feel that they need to compete, they need to do better, they need to do it all. Some of us might not be doing that but the world around us is. And our role is that much more difficult as a parent to reverse the effect of this all-pervasive mentality.
But in the midst of that we have some small nondescript moments that tear up our eyes. When a child who is 10 years old is happy to spend the evening teaching his 5 year old neighbour how to cycle. When the same child also explains to my son who is 6 1/2 years old that he can run along and say encouraging words to the youngest child.
Cascading effect – the effect that we need to create, with empathy. This child through his action, created a deeper sense of awareness about it within my child too.
Today I came back feeling great – the world is filled with such compassionate children too. Those who don’t just do it themselves but guide other kids as well on how to become a part of that same gesture.
And that is what we can do as parents to make a socially conscious and committed world. Similarly there are brands that work in creating such a world, like Healthy Buddha.

So I immediately decided to use it in a Wholewheat Chocolate Fudge cake. Needless to say it tastes great ! Just as good and pure chocolate should. It works beautifully in the cake and I feel it also cuts down the sweetness level and brings to a lower point which is more in line with my taste buds.
I am sure to bake with this version of baking chocolate again !

Recipe – Wholewheat Chocolate Fudge Cake
- 1 1/2 cup Wholewheat flour
- 1 cup unrefined cane sugar
- 75 gms Healthy Buddha Baking Chocolate
- 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 3/4 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- Preheat the oven to 170 degrees C. Prepare your baking pan.
- Mix the flour, cane sugar, baking powder with a whisk. .
- Add the eggs, buttermilk, warm water, oil. Beat well to incorporate all elements.
- Add melted chocolate and mix well.
- Pour into baking tin.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and cut !
